Electrician electrocuted working at a domestic property

WorkSafe has issued an alert about the risk of installing cables in older domestic properties where the electrical supply has not been de-energised and/or the integrity of existing electrical cable is not known.

This tragic incident is a timely reminder for plumbers working on pipework.

Working on pipework generally would not be regarded as high risk work,or thought to be considered as working on electrically energised plumbing systems.

The PPTEU has a long standing Hazard Alert warning plumbers of the dangers of cutting into or disconnecting pipework.
