Thursday 1st August is World Lung Cancer Day.

Lung cancer continues to be one of the most common cancers worldwide, claiming more lives yearly than breast, colon and prostate cancers combined. It is estimated that lung cancer accounts for nearly one in five cancer deaths globally.

As you know, mesothelioma and other asbestos-related cancers primarily effect the lungs.

We will be using World Lung Cancer Day as an opportunity to spread the message of awareness and safety around asbestos, and encourage people to take protections to avoid exposure-related cancer in the future.

We would love your support in conveying this awareness and safety message to your members and stakeholders.

The Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency has developed some digital materials that we are providing to you for your use. We have a template electronic direct mail, and two social media tiles.

The materials are available for download here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/qnw9vwqo7t8ypvu/AAAXwHvWJQz9RUR5WxMGFW71a?dl=0

We are happy for you to brand the digital content with your own logo/s if desired.

If you would like a fact sheet targeted at a particular occupation / industry or sector we can also provide this – please get it touch.

We have brochures for the following occupations currently: electricians / electrical, fire safety installation, construction and demolition (general), plumbers, and automotive industry.

We would be happy to work with you to produce more for other occupations if there is demand (although there may not be time prior to August 1!)

We also have materials for people undergoing (or considering) renovations of their own homes.

For any inquiries or to obtain additional materials please email myself, Tamsin Lloyd, or my colleague Katrina Khamhing at the Agency – Tamsin.lloyd (at) asbestossafety.gov.au or katrina.khamhing (at) asbestossafety.gov.au.

Kind Regards,

Tamsin Lloyd
